Home

The vision of that great picture
Makes me wondering
About the feeling's mixture
And the house loving
Beautiful home…
That I may call my own
A safe place to be
Also an escape to me
From the rest of the shadows
It gives me strength and power
Beautiful blue house
Combined with a gorgeous
blue
Sky
Shows the concept of home
Put all my hopes on it I might
The balance, the sense of belonging
Grows…
All that present on a quiet place
Making the hearts… shaking
I’d love to have a home like that one
To feel secure, emotionally warm and
Have fun
Desired by everyone… the home
Links the brotherhood ties
It is wherever we leave someone that
Misses us with no lies
The image surrounds the souls… of
Whoever wants to.
A big complex concept…
Simply a home

The poem reflects the idea of home and the sense of belonging to something and feeling safe. Wherever someone is, the important is where you feel fulfilled physically, emotionally or psychologically surrounded by those you care about. HOME.
For me basically, is that.

Photo Essay about Home

My photo essay about “home” was taken on the wardrobe of my bedroom. This photo shows the most important things that I have collected through my life and how they symbolize my thought and meaning of home.

All of these simple things were collected with love and each one of them symbolizes someone or something that is still important to me.

The ladybirds symbolize me because my nickname of Joana is Joaninha and it’s the name that we give to those little flying insects that are red and have black spots. I simply love them! When I see one, I want to keep it only to me and no one can touch them. They’re pieces of me, of who I am…

I really like to be in my bedroom in summertime. This is the time of the year that I enjoy most and, in this photo, there are lots of things that symbolize it: the pink and the yellow flowers are hair slides that my mother gave to me when I was little and I still use them on the beach; inside the ladybird mug, there is a Chinese fan and I use it on those hot days; on the left side, there’s another ladybird mug and, inside it, there’s a shell which was found on a south Portuguese beach and its symbolize my holiday vacancies with all my family in Tavira (it’s a small town in the south of Portugal); and finally, the most important ones in summertime, my cards. One of my hobbies is to play at my computer and with my Mega Drive and PS2 and, when it’s summertime, I take my cards to the beach to play with my boyfriend and friends. By the way, at the top of my cards, there are two green dices which symbolize my favorite Latin quote that I apply to some situations of my life: Alea Jacta Est (The Die Is Cast).

Before my final comment, I want to talk about three things which symbolize one of the most important persons that will always be in my heart - my boyfriend – and they’re the cat mug, the gnome inside that mug, and the frame which has our photo.

I bought the cat mug because my boyfriend has a cat and I consider it as my pet. Before knowing my boyfriend, I didn’t like cats because my father said that they were selfish animals and they were mean to humans. Now, I don’t have the same thought!

The gnome reminds the figure of my boyfriend. The first time that I saw that cute doll, it remembered to me my boyfriend’s physiognomy and I don’t know why because they’re very different from each other. But, when I see the doll’s eyes, I can imagine the green sea eyes of my boyfriend…

The frame has our second picture which was taken on the city which he was born, Caldas da Rainha (near to Leiria).

As you can see, this is the place where I rest and I can be myself. This will always be the place which represents my mind and my soul. This is my home, the place where I keep all my memories and where I’m the only person who can enter to this imaginary world that is, in other words, my world.

The sea

For some people it has absolutely no meaning, but for me, it's everything.

I’ve grew up looking at it, admiring its beauty, its peace.

It may seem cold, but it’s warm for me.

It may seem dangerous, but it’s safe for me.

It may seem angry sometimes, but always reminds me peaceful moments.

It may seem full of nothing, but for me it has all the love that one heart can hold within.

It is my home, my family, it’s even me.

In it you can find all my memories and my heart as well.

If you ask me where my home is, I’ll tell you:

Look for it in the sea.

Home

There was once a boy, who had an ordinary life, a home, family, food on the table, the sorts.

He’d often talk bad about his country, saying that he wanted to live abroad.

Then he grew older, wiser and his thoughts changed.

He still had a nice home and all that jazz, but something was missing, he had to apologize to his country...

So, one summer he set of on his way, avoiding big cities and visiting villages.

While meeting new people, he got to know the old folk, the last link to this country.

Shared old and new stories, learn the trades of the old and new days.

What is home? A cubicle with walls and a roof?

No, people are used to narrow home to this, but home is people, love, emotions, and yes, it can have walls and roof.

But my home is in my country. I was born in Viseu, lived in Azores and now I’m living in Montijo, so far I had 7 homes.

Should I stop caring now? No, I still live in my home, the same home I was born in.

It could be worse than before, but I still love it and, some day, I will hitchhike on my country.

Care to join? And find the meaning of home together?
